Phi Mu Fraternity

I never imagined I would be a sorority girl, but apparently the pipeline from this to chapter president have a pretty high correlation. I joined Phi Mu in the fall of 2019 when I came to Illinois and had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. Since then, I have had the opportunity to watch my chapter grow and thrive while getting to be part of it all. I began my term as new member educator in December of 2021 with COVID-19 still dictating much of what sorority life looked like. Nevertheless, I was able to successfully carry out two new member programs and teach over fifty women what it truly means to be a Phi Mu. After this, I was elected chapter president in December of 2022. Over the year I served as president, I had the opportunity to lead our chapter with the ten other members of the executive committee, countless members of Phi Mu national and area teams, and university staff. The Illinois chapter has had our best retention rate since our recharter and, most importantly, the highest overall member satisfaction rate since I have been in the chapter. Although this position was incredibly stressful, I am so thankful for all the opportunities it gave me and ways I was able to grow throughout it. Throughout all of these positions, I learned confidence. I learned to have confidence in the decisions I make, my ability to lead, and ultimately, myself.
